Police foil 'JRL Rally' against Gaw Kadal massacre | KNO

JRL leaders, activists assemble at Basant Bagh, pay tributes to those killed on Jan 21, 1990.Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday imposed strict curbs in Gaw Kadal areas of Srinagar to foil Joint Resistance Leadership led protest to pay homage to 52 civilians killed on January 21, 1990 by the forces.

The leaders and activists, however, managed to reach Basant Bagh area. When they tried to proceed towards the site of incident, they were intercepted by a heavy contingent of police and pushed back, said a witness. He said the leaders and activists, carrying the banners showing pictures of those killed on this day on 1990, later assembled at Marriage Hall Basant Bagh, where leaders of JKLF, Hurriyat Conference (G) and Hurriyat Conference (M) paid tributes to the slain.
